Clendenon Family Genealogy [Hannah's sister] "Aunt Sarah Clendenon" (1785-1879) passed on the Clendenon legend/story as follows: "James, King of Scotland, sent some of the Clan Denings to Ireland to teach the people how to make butter & cheese & how to raise flax & spin and weave it into linen cloth. The first Clendenon to come to America was from a linen center in Ireland. The earliest-known Clendenon of the family, Robert, reputedly noble, left Ireland during the rebellion on account of having assaulted a British Officer who insulted him. Robert married an English-born Quaker, Deborah Fisher. Whether he was banished or skipped isn't known. "Her rich relatives repulsed her and her Quaker Meeting disowned her." They had 4 children [a Quaker family]:-
